Katsina United will feature in the Nigeria premier league next year after 14 years following promotion on Saturday.

Katsina, who were known as Katsina spotlight last season, won 1-0 at home against Kogi United on Saturday to beat closest rivals Mighty Jets, who lost 3-1 at Jigawa Golden Stars of Dutse.

Katsina thus finished on 27 points from 14 matches, while Mighty jets were runners-up in Division A1.

Katsina, who in their glory years lined up top internationals like Dahiru Sadi, Eric Ejiofor and Victor Ogundsanya, are now owned by the Katsina State Government.

They were bankrolled by former NFF boss Abdulmumini Aminu at their peak.

Jigawa’s home win against Jets ensured their safety in the NNL
