Dogara blocks fresh move to revisit CCB, CCT amendment

The Speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday blocked an attempt to revisit the controversial amendments to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Act.
Dogara's action came as a way of ruling the House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila out of order, when the later attempted to bring up the issue of the amendments, which the Senate passed last week.
Coming under constitutional point of order, Gbajabiamila said some of the amendments in the CCB and CCT Acts were contrary to the provisions of the constitution, which say the president reserves the right to appoint the chairman and other members of the two bodies.
But another lawmaker, Rep Kingsley Chinda (PDP, Rivers), came up with another point of order, saying based on the House rules, any member that wanted the House to revisit an issue must do that through a substantive motion.
Dogara therefore rules Gbajabiamila out of order.
